No expertise or sophisticated equipment is required or assumed. Members’ equipment ranges from film based point and shoot cameras to digital SLRs. (May 2011) Photo Group Web Gallery Doug Barden and Shelley Lindauer, the Executive Directors of Men of Reform Judaism (MRJ) and Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) discuss the role of Brotherhood and Sisterhood organizations today… Part 1, 2, 3, 4 Award winning Brotherhood MRJ – Men of Reform Judaism (formerly NFTB -- North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods) has recognized Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood with two awards: The Star Programming Award (2005 – 2007) for overall star programming (multiple, diverse activity throughout the years) … picture  … and the Award for Outstanding Communications (2007 – 2009). The awards were presented at the 41st and 42nd MRJ Biennials in Memphis and New Orleans.
Our next and last 5772 Brotherhood Breakfast Club will be this Sunday, May 6, 2012. A couple of years ago, a cache of sermons, handwritten by Rabbi Eisendrath, was found in our tower, from the time of the rabbi's arrival in Toronto in the fall of 1929 (with some written even before then for his previous congregation in West Virginia) until he left Holy Blossom in 1943. Howard Roger and Michael Cole will give an overview of Rabbi Eisendrath's career and examine the topics and style of his sermons. They will also discuss the work of Temple Archives, and what we plan to do with the results of our investigation of these sermons. You are also invited to share your memories of the Rabbi. Shacharit Service is at 9 a.m., a hot breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m., and the presentation begins at 10 a.m.  All members, both men and women, are welcome. Each year the Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood hosts its Breakfast Club approximately once a month on Sunday mornings from October to May and provides lectures and entertainments of Jewish interest and a delicious breakfast prepared by Brotherhood volunteers.
Intersynagogue Baseball!
Spring is upon us!  and “the boys of summer” , our one and only Holy B’s Inter-synagogue Baseball League team, have returned to the plate for the 2012 season!  They won their season opener May 6, edging Beth Sholom 26 -22 at Cummer Park.  Our team had the second highest score of all teams who played May 6.  More details about this game will be posted shortly. Holy Blossom hosts Beth Tikvah on Sunday, May 13, then Beth Tzedec on May 20. 2011 Baseball Season Details game by game
Brotherhood Study Group
This year’s study group, led by Rabbi Michael Stroh, has now concluded. The group topic was “Texts and Textiles”:  texts rarely studied by Reform Jews, texts never studied by Reform Jews and texts rarely studied by any Jews.  Can they speak to us? We thank Rabbi Stroh for yet another year’s interesting study and his giving  considerable time and effort.

A gift of Torah
For many years Holy Blossom Brotherhood has given a copy of the Plaut Torah Commentary to all bar and bat mitzvah youths at Holy Blossom. We hope these volumes will be a valuable resource for the students of our synagogue as they prepare for their bar and bat mitzvah celebrations and for many years to come.
