Richie Borins, Temple Member and Captain of the Holy Bs Brotherhood Baseball Team will speak about The Concerned Kids, a unique non-profit organization.

The Concerned Kids is a non-profit organization that educates children through interactive puppetry presentations. They present shows to children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Today we are deluged with technologies: cell phones, tablets, laptops and MP3 players are only the tip of the iceberg. What are the major trends in the technology industry and where will this take us? What impact will these changes have on our lives, and on society as a whole?

Ted is President and CEO of Connectability Inc., a Toronto-based IT consulting organization which he co-founded in 1995. Connectability specializes in developing and maintaining complex, networked IT environments. Mr. Shafran is the technical driving force behind the company, in the process, developing a unique portfolio of skills.

Michael Cole will give his annual book review. Michael will review Half-Blood Blues, by Esi Edugyan

It's a short-listed Giller prize novel about a group of young jazz musicians of mixed backgrounds and race living in Berlin and Paris on the eve of the Second World War. It's also about the attempt, many years later, to locate one member of the group, who was arrested by the Gestapo in Nazi occupied Paris.

Temple members Paula Warren and Sheila Smolkin will speak about their recent participation in a Habitat for Humanity build in Paraguay. Paula will also compare this build to other builds she has been on in Nepal and Poland.

Brotherhood Study Group 5772 – Rabbi Michael Stroh

The topic will be “Texts and Textiles”: texts rarely studied by Reform Jews, texts never studied by Reform Jews and texts rarely studied by any Jews. Can they speak to us?

Sessions are Mondays at 7:30 p.m., on January 23 and 30, February 6, 13 and 27^th, and March 5, 2012.
