Photogroup News May 2010
Thanks to:
Harold Hutner for taking us on a cruise from Valparaiso, through the Straits of Magellan to Buenos Aires. Great pictures from a fascinating part of the world. Harold also introduced us to a Speed Graphic camera… quite a contrast to the digital micro wonders we see today.
Peter Schatz showed us a book of images that he and his daughter, Vivian, took in Puerto Rico.
The book was created through the Shutterfly website (www.shutterfly.com)
The April Photo Challenge
The April challenge was to take a picture through a window where the window served as the frame for the image. About 30 images were tabled and five emerged as our favourites. Congratulations to Marshall Folk, Larry Hausman, Cyril Baldachin and Ellie Loebel whose pictures were chosen.
The Summer Challenge
Curves and Angles
Take a picture where the dominant design element is a sinuous curve or a bold angle… such as a snail, a path curving off into the distance, or an image of the addition to the ROM. You have the summer to dream up more imaginative examples.
Bring your pictures (preferably as 8 x 10 inch prints) to our first meeting in the fall. (Please no more than 3 images per person.)
Contact
The contact photo exhibition takes place in venues throughout the city during the month of May. Even the website is fascinating.

Two outstanding exhibits in the Bloor St. area are on the third floor of the Hugo Boss store at 83 Bloor St. W. and at Alliance Française at 24 Spadina Rd.
