The UJA Federation of Greater Toronto has presented its volunteer recognition award to Jeff Levy, Past President of Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood. In addition to serving Brotherhood, Jeff is the congregation’s head usher, a gabbai, and co-ordinator of the Temple’s shiva service leaders. Jeff explained what motivates him as a volunteer, “I was taught by my parents, rabbis and teachers at Holy Blossom that doing mitzvot is the essence of Judaism. It is a privilege and a duty to serve my community.”  Professionally Jeff is Assistant Controller of B’nai Brith Canada. He is also a board member of Micah Homes, a trustee of B’nai Brith’s Leonard Mayzel Ontario Lodge and a frequent volunteer at B’nai Brith functions.
Brotherhood communication award
MRJ -- Men of Reform Judaism has announced that Holy Blossom Temple Brotherhood is the recipient of the 2007 - 2009 Award for Outstanding Communications.  The award was presented on Thursday, June 25th during the 42nd MRJ Biennial in New Orleans.
Brotherhood Breakfast Club
Our programming for 5769 is now complete.  Breakfast Club will return again in the fall with interesting speakers and presentations and, of course, our delicious breakfasts prepared by the men of Brotherhood.

Brotherhood Baseball
The Holy B’s, our Brotherhood baseball team, are participating in the ISBL, Inter Synagogue Baseball League again this year. For the Holy B’s schedule and scores throughout the season visit the ISBL website.

2009 Annual General Meeting and Installation
Our 2009 Annual General Meeting and Installation of directors and officers will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Our directors meet four or five times per year and are responsible for planning our activities and expenditures. If you are interested in serving on our Board, please send us an email or speak to any of our current officers or directors.
A gift of Torah
For many years Holy Blossom Brotherhood has given a copy of the Plaut Torah Commentary to all bar and bat mitzvah youths at Holy Blossom. We hope these volumes will be a valuable resource for the students of our synagogue as they prepare for their bar and bat mitzvah celebrations and for many years to come.
